86. Focusing on my businesses
I'm excited to add a collection of guided journals and positive thoughts to my market stall. I'm putting off my laptop purchase to follow this new path.
My focus this week was the life area of Business.
So what do I focus on when I bring my focus to business?
Sometimes I just think about how far I have come.
I have the courage to take up new opportunities.
I have the confidence to do what brings me joy.
I have a practical way to bring purpose into my life.
I have built an audience that I feel comfortable sharing with.
I have a regular income that doesn’t require me to give up anything.
I have found a pleasant balance between feeling responsible and feeling free.
I’m lucky I have reached my retirement years and I still have ideas for making money. It is an annoying fact sometimes that money is a tool you need in order to live comfortably. Though I am much more comfortable now asking for money in exchange for my expertise and effort than I used to be.
At the market stall the other week the husband of the lady buying a bracelet because she thought it was pretty, commented that it was $15 he would never see again - or something meaning that anyway. I piped up and said that you have exchanged your money for my skill and effort in making the bracelet and all is right with the world.
I hated that he implied that something I loved making was just a waste of money. Yet his wife loved it and looked really happy with her purchase. Why couldn’t he think something positive. He could have looked at his wife and thought how pretty she looked smiling with her bracelet yet he chose to speak a negative thought to a stranger no less.
I have been seriously working on my positive mindset over the last 10 years or so and I have noticed that I am happy, fulfilled, confident, successful and lucky a lot. I was recently thinking that I probably need to move closer to the city before I get too frail to make a move. I like the idea of being closer to cultural activities and shopping. I specifically mentioned to my husband that I would love to go to the ballet again.
The next day my neighbour pops over and asks if I could use 4 tickets to the Ballet Theatre Queensland performance of Alice in Wonderland. Unfortunately I think they can’t go due to health issues but I was thrilled that she thought of me to sell the tickets to. Sometimes it’s nice when something is decided for you.
With something lucky under my belt I also had to take a break from pretty much everything while I was sick with some big city virus. I have avoided catching anything on my city travels for many years now. I always take immune support tablets and take precautions but I was unlucky this trip. I moaned and slept for 3 or 4 days and now I am just low on energy. Monday came and I didn’t have a new pattern ready so I looked in my own pattern archive and feel excited to bring you my elastic waist culottes for 18” dolls.
This pattern comes with cute pockets or just piping down the sides.
There is a pleat in the front and back that makes it sit more like a skirt.
Paid subscribers can enjoy making this pattern as part of the Doll Clothes Pattern Club.
Cheers,
Val
